Staying at Robert’s cozy place in Childers has been a real pleasure, and this was my second visit! (Sorry, Robert, I forgot to review it the first time 😅). The stay was so nice, I just had to come back. The place is even better than it looks in the photos and somehow keeps getting better every time I visit. Felix the cat is such a friendly, fluffy companion, and being surrounded by luscious gardens with peacocks and other wildlife made it even more special. Can’t wait for my next visit!

Robert is very warm, and does a great job to make his garden and these living spaces friendly and pleasant. You can admire peacocks and other colorful birds, the chickens may come by and say hello! With a little luck you may have the opportunity to share a wood-fired pizza with Robert. Thanks for the enchanted break! Tanya and Gaetan

If I had one word to describe Robert's house, it would be 'visionary'.I can clearly see how all of the hard work he has and continues to put in will come to be an amazing community. My son and I felt extremely welcomed and cared for from the moment we arrived, until the moment we left. Thank you Robert. 🥰

Apple Tree Creek is a rural town 6 km north-west of Childers on the Isis Highway. The creek is an eastwards-flowing tributary of the Isis River, its name derived from the trees with flowers similar to apple blossom fringing its banks. Apple Tree Creek, originally known as Bodalla until 1962.

European settlers entered the district from the 1840s and then cleared the fertile Isis scrub for agriculture in the 1870s. The initial industries were grazing, saw-milling and growing sugarcane.

A railway line from Childers to Cordalba was opened in 1896. Although bypassing Apple Tree Creek, the line illustrated the development of the district's sugar economy, coming with the opening of CSR's Isis central mill west of Apple Tree Creek.

Apple Tree Creek Provisional School opened on 28 November 1887. It became Apple Tree Creek State School on 5 July 1897. It closed on 21 December 1969.

Apple Tree Creek Post Office opened around January 1909 (a receiving office had been open since 1898. and closed in 1975.

In addition to a few shops Apple Tree Creek had a Methodist church and a band rotunda (1911). Near the rotunda there is a World War I memorial (1921) recording over 70 names, a telling indication of the densely populated farmlands around the Isis central mill. These are listed on the Queensland heritage register.

St Anne's Anglican Church was dedicated on 10 July 1930 by Venerable William Powning Glover, Archdeacon of Toowoomba. It has since closed.

Apple Tree Creek has a notable memorial hall, the hall commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved (1945).

Apple Tree Creek population was first recorded in 1911 with 229 people, then experienced the beginnings of a renaissance in the 1990s to see the population double on the 1996 census showing 556 people. Population peaked in 2011 with 991 people. Latest Census in 2021 recorded the population to be 726.
